Move sha256_hex out of orchestrator/supervisor/util.py to the root
bot_bottle.util (it's a generic string hash, not supervise-specific), and have
Proposal.new take the proposed file contents and compute current_file_hash
itself instead of every caller passing sha256_hex(proposed_file).
Every call site set current_file_hash to the hash of the proposed file, and
nothing reads the field except the DB round-trip (schema + _row_to_proposal +
from_dict, all untouched), so folding the hash into the factory is
behavior-preserving and removes the boilerplate. Callers now pass just the
file; the orchestrator no longer imports sha256_hex at all.

Turn the loose queue/audit functions in orchestrator/supervisor/queue.py into
methods on a concrete Supervisor service. The Orchestrator now owns an
injectable `self._supervisor` and calls `self._supervisor.write_proposal(...)`
etc., instead of module-level free functions — the supervise dependency is
explicit and mockable, and a Supervisor can be scoped to a `db_path` (defaults
to the host DB) so tests can point it at a temp database.
- Supervisor (in the package __init__) drops the ABC and gains write_proposal,
read_proposal, list_pending_proposals, list_all_pending_proposals,
write_response, read_response, archive_all_proposals, write_audit_entry,
read_audit_entries, plus the launch-time prepare().
- render_diff / sha256_hex are pure and stateless, so they move to
orchestrator/supervisor/util.py (re-exported from the facade) rather than
becoming methods.
- queue.py is deleted; service.py + the supervise tests call through a
Supervisor instance.

Remove the supervise queue helpers that no live path uses anymore — they're
mechanisms the PRD-0070 / idempotent-poll migration superseded:
- archive_proposal (+ QueueStore.archive_proposal): the poll stopped archiving
on read (#469 review), so single-proposal archiving has no caller; decided
proposals drop off the pending list via their response row and are reaped in
bulk by archive_all_proposals on teardown/reconcile.
- wait_for_response: the data plane polls the queue over the control-plane RPC
now, so nothing block-waits on it.
- audit_dir / audit_log_path: file-based audit paths, replaced by the SQLite
AuditStore.
Also drops the tests that covered those obsolete helpers. Kept the prod-unused
read accessors list_pending_proposals and read_audit_entries: those aren't dead
mechanisms — they're the read side of live write paths that many tests use to
verify real queue/audit behavior.

Move the `Supervise` lifecycle out of its own `orchestrator/supervisor/
supervise.py` and into the package `__init__`, renaming the class to
`Supervisor`. Callers now import it from `bot_bottle.orchestrator.supervisor`
alongside the queue surface it belongs with.
Remove the dead `try/except ImportError` flat-import fallbacks from the
package-only store modules (db_store, audit_store, config_store, queue_store)
and image_cache. Those fallbacks existed for when the store files were
flat-copied into the gateway; post-PRD-0070 the data plane never opens the DB,
so these modules are only ever imported as part of the package. The two gateway
data-plane files that may still be loaded flat (egress_addon_core,
git_gate_render) keep their fallbacks.

Give each service its own store package + manager, and cut the supervise module
along the control/data-plane boundary so nothing in the shared layer reaches up
into the orchestrator.
Stores, by owner:
- bot_bottle/store/ keeps only the shared base (DbStore, migrations) and the
concrete stores that aren't service-owned (audit_store, config_store).
- bot_bottle/orchestrator/store/ now houses the orchestrator-owned stores —
queue_store (supervise queue), secret_store, config_store — plus a new
orchestrator store_manager that migrates them (composing audit/config
downward from the base). The old shared store_manager is gone.
Supervise plane, by tier:
- bot_bottle/supervisor/ (NEUTRAL, importable by every tier including the
gateway): types.py (the Proposal/Response/AuditEntry wire types + the tool/
status/poll constants + the shared daemon constants moved out of
supervise.py) and plan.py (SupervisePlan, a pure DTO).
- bot_bottle/orchestrator/supervisor/ (orchestrator-only): queue.py (the
queue/audit I/O wrappers + render_diff + sha256_hex) and supervise.py (the
Supervise lifecycle that stages the DB via the store manager). Its __init__
re-exports the neutral vocabulary so orchestrator-side callers import from
one place.
The gateway now imports only bot_bottle.supervisor.types (never
bot_bottle.supervise), so the data plane holds no code dependency on the
orchestrator — it reaches the queue over the control-plane RPC. This removes
the circular import that moving queue_store under orchestrator introduced
(supervise -> orchestrator -> service -> supervise).
supervise_types.py -> supervisor/types.py; supervise.py deleted (split). Full
unit suite green (2251).

Move the DbStore base (db_store), the shared schema-migration base (migrations /
TableMigrations), the concrete stores (audit_store, config_store, queue_store),
and StoreManager out of the package root into a bot_bottle/store/ package, so
persistence lives in one place rather than scattered across the root.
Callers use direct submodule imports (from bot_bottle.store.store_manager
import StoreManager). Inside the moved modules the relative imports point back
up to their non-store siblings (..paths, ..supervise_types) while co-moved
siblings stay package-local; the flat-import fallbacks are untouched. The
orchestrator's own stores (config_store, secret_store, registry) stay in
orchestrator/ and repoint to the moved DbStore / TableMigrations.
No behavior change; full unit suite green.

paths is the single home now, so stop re-exporting the path helpers from
supervise: remove host_db_path from supervise's imports + __all__ (it was
re-export-only) and drop bot_bottle_root from __all__ (kept as an import,
still used by audit_dir). supervise_types was already clean. Repoint the
last readers (test_supervise imports host_db_path from paths;
test_supervise_edge calls paths.bot_bottle_root) and refresh the doc
mentions. No supervise.bot_bottle_root / supervise.host_db_path references
remain.
Behavior-preserving: full unit suite unchanged (only the pre-existing
/bin/sleep sidecar-init errors).

Create bot_bottle/paths.py as the canonical home for the app-root path
helpers (bot_bottle_root, host_db_path, HOST_DB_FILENAME) — foundational,
not supervise- or db-specific. `bot_bottle_root()` now honours a
BOT_BOTTLE_ROOT env override.
Repoint every consumer (supervise, supervise_types, db_store, queue_store,
audit_store, store_manager, bottle_state, cli/supervise, docker/cleanup,
orchestrator/registry) at paths; remove the definitions (and supervise's
duplicate host_db_path) and the now-dead `import sys`. Add paths.py to the
sidecar bundle (Dockerfile.sidecars) for the flat-import copies.
Tests: replace ~12 files' monkeypatching of supervise.bot_bottle_root (and
the flat/pkg/supervise_types triple-patch dance) with a single
`use_bottle_root()` helper that sets BOT_BOTTLE_ROOT — every module and
flat/package copy reads the same env var, so one override covers them all.
Net -97 lines. Behaviour-preserving: full unit suite unchanged (only the
pre-existing /bin/sleep sidecar-init errors remain).

Proposal, Response, AuditEntry, host_db_path, bot_bottle_root, and their
shared constants/helpers are moved to a new _supervise_types.py module.
queue_store and audit_store now import these directly instead of deferring
through get_supervise_mod() at call time.
host_db_path() in _supervise_types uses sys.modules[__name__].bot_bottle_root()
so monkey-patches on _supervise_types.bot_bottle_root propagate through it.
supervise.host_db_path() is re-defined to call bot_bottle_root() through
supervise's own globals, preserving patchability for callers that go through
the supervise module.
Test fixtures that create stores without an explicit db_path now patch
_sv_types.bot_bottle_root alongside supervise.bot_bottle_root. The server
test patches both flat and package _supervise_types since handle_tools_call
runs in the package context while the responder thread uses the flat module.
Dockerfile.sidecars gets a COPY for _supervise_types.py so the sidecar
bundle retains its flat import chain.
Follow-up to issuecomment-2872 on PR #320.
Remove auto-migration from DbStore.__init__; add explicit check_migrations()
and migrate() methods. The CLI now checks both stores on every startup and
prompts the user to confirm before migrating. supervise.prepare() calls
.migrate() directly now that __init__ no longer does it implicitly.

Moves _QueueStore → bot_bottle/queue_store.py (public QueueStore) and
_AuditStore → bot_bottle/audit_store.py (public AuditStore). Removes
the public queue_db_path() function; QueueStore resolves the DB path
via host_db_path() on the host, or via the SUPERVISE_DB_PATH env var
in the sidecar container (internal mechanism, not public API).
Adds queue_store.py and audit_store.py to Dockerfile.sidecars so the
sidecar bundle picks them up. Updates __all__ in supervise.py.

The constant and its MCP tool name ("allow" → "egress-allow") were the
only supervise tools without an egress-scoped identifier, despite the
tool being egress-only (routes.yaml payload, COMPONENT_FOR_TOOL maps
it to "egress", always grouped with TOOL_EGRESS_BLOCK). The rename
brings it in line with TOOL_EGRESS_BLOCK and TOOL_EGRESS_TOKEN_ALLOW,
and adds TOOL_EGRESS_ALLOW and TOOL_EGRESS_BLOCK to __all__ (both were
previously absent).
When the outbound DLP catches a token, route the block through the
existing supervisor approval queue instead of returning 403 outright.
The egress proxy holds the request open until the operator answers, then
remembers an approved value for the life of the proxy so the request --
and later ones carrying it -- flow through. Fails closed on rejection,
timeout, malformed response, or when supervise is disabled.
- ScanResult.matched carries the raw matched substring (sidecar-only;
never logged or written to the proposal). scan_outbound and the token
detectors take a safe_tokens set and skip approved values, continuing
past a safelisted match so a second secret in the same request is
still caught.
- New egress-token-allow proposal tool, written directly to the queue by
the addon (the gitleaks-allow pattern from PRD 0061). build_token_allow
_payload renders host/method/path/detector reason + redacted context.
- Async request hook polls the queue without stalling the proxy event
loop; EGRESS_TOKEN_ALLOW_TIMEOUT_SECONDS (default 300) bounds the wait.
- Supervisor TUI renders egress-token-allow like gitleaks-allow: report
only, modify unavailable, approval requires a recorded reason.
- Unit tests for the matched/safe-tokens plumbing, payload builder, tool
constant round-trip, and TUI paths; README + PRD 0062.

The recent refactor partially removed workspace planning and
capability-apply logic. This commit finishes the cleanup so the
test suite imports cleanly:
- Comment out workspace_plan field/property on BottlePlan and the
provision_workspace dispatch.
- Comment out workspace usages in docker.util (build_image_with_cwd),
smolmachines.provision.workspace, agent_provider.provision_git,
smolmachines.backend.
- Comment out capability_apply imports in cli.start and cli.supervise;
add a local CapabilityApplyError placeholder so the supervise CLI
module still imports.
- Break the bottle_state → backend.docker → backend circular import
by lazy-loading docker_mod inside bottle_identity, and by moving the
resolve_common import inside BottleBackend.prepare.
- Delete tests for workspace and capability_apply (unit + integration).
- Update test fixtures to drop removed kwargs (container_name_pinned,
derived_image, env_file, workspace_plan, agent_image_ref) from
DockerBottlePlan / SmolmachinesBottlePlan constructors.
- Delete the obsolete test_smolmachines_prepare.py (tested the old
resolve_plan signature; the shared prepare flow now lives in
BottleBackend.prepare).
- Adjust test_supervise.py for the new Supervise.prepare signature
(dockerfile_content arg removed).
925 → 897 tests, all passing.
Drops `egress-block` from the supervise sidecar, removes
`_merge_single_route`, `add_route`, and `apply_routes_change` from
egress_apply.py, and strips the proposal/approve/reject flow for egress
from the supervise CLI. The list-egress-routes and capability-block tools
are unaffected. Tests updated throughout.

Remove 35+ unused imports across 20+ files (W0611). Wrap 19 lines
to fit under 100 character limit (C0301). Add type casts and
annotations in egress_addon_core.py to resolve pyright errors
caused by JSON parsing of untyped objects.
Key changes:
- Remove unused imports (abstractmethod, mock utilities, etc)
- Split long lines at logical breaks (method calls, error messages)
- Add typing.cast() for proper type inference in JSON parsing
- Explicit type annotations for dict/list accesses
Results:
- Pylint rating: 8.73/10
- egress_addon_core.py: 0 pyright errors (was 15)

The manifest key is `egress:` now; finish the rename so the rest of
the codebase matches. Files (Dockerfile.egress, claude_bottle/egress.py
etc.), classes (Egress, EgressConfig, EgressRoute, EgressPlan,
DockerEgress), constants (EGRESS_HOSTNAME, EGRESS_ROUTES, ...),
container name prefix (claude-bottle-egress-*), docker network alias
(egress), the introspection host (_egress.local), the MCP tool IDs
(egress-block, list-egress-routes), and the preflight label all drop
the `-proxy` suffix.
Reshape the allowlist topology so the egress-proxy is the bottle's
single allowlist surface, and replace the agent-side
routes/allowlist file mounts with a live MCP tool.
Policy change (move defaults to egress-proxy):
- `egress_proxy_routes_for_bottle(bottle)` now folds in
DEFAULT_ALLOWLIST (the claude-code defaults) and
`bottle.egress.allowlist` (user adds) as bare-pass routes (no
auth, no path filter), on top of the bottle's
`egress_proxy.routes`. Manifest routes win on host collision.
- `pipelock_effective_allowlist(bottle)` mirrors egress-proxy's
effective host set when egress-proxy is in use. Pipelock is
no longer the bottle's primary allowlist authority; it
enforces a downstream copy as defense-in-depth + does DLP body
scanning.
- Split out `egress_proxy_manifest_routes(bottle)` for callers
that want just the manifest entries (tests, internal use).
- DEFAULT_ALLOWLIST moves from `pipelock.py` to `egress_proxy.py`
(pipelock re-imports for the no-egress-proxy fallback path).
- Dropped the `egress-proxy` auto-allow on pipelock's allowlist
— the agent never dials egress-proxy via the proxy mechanism;
pipelock only sees upstream hostnames from egress-proxy's
CONNECTs.
Introspection endpoint (existing mitmproxy feature):
- Egress-proxy addon recognises requests to the magic host
`_egress-proxy.local` and synthesizes responses via
`flow.response = http.Response.make(...)` — no upstream
connection, no allowlist enforcement on the magic host.
- `GET /allowlist` returns the in-memory route table as JSON
(host + path_allowlist + auth_scheme + token_env per route;
no token VALUES).
- Smoke-tested end-to-end against a real egress-proxy container.
MCP tool (existing supervise plumbing):
- New `list-egress-proxy-routes` tool (no inputs, no operator
approval). Handler fetches via egress-proxy's introspection
endpoint using urllib's ProxyHandler against
`EGRESS_PROXY_FORWARD_PROXY`. Returns the JSON payload as the
tool's text content; `isError: true` if the proxy is
unreachable.
- `egress-proxy-block` description now points the agent at
`list-egress-proxy-routes` instead of a staged file path.
- `pipelock-block` description acknowledges the mirror — agents
should prefer `egress-proxy-block` to add hosts; pipelock-block
stays for the rare divergence case.
Drop agent-side file mounts:
- Supervise's `current-config` dir staging no longer writes
routes.yaml / allowlist. Only `Dockerfile` remains
(capability-block still reads it from
`/etc/claude-bottle/current-config/Dockerfile`).
- `prepare.py` stops passing `routes_content` /
`allowlist_content` to `supervise.prepare`.
- `Supervise.prepare` signature simplified to one
`dockerfile_content` kwarg.
Tests: 400 unit + integration pass. Added coverage for
defaults-folding (`TestRoutesForBottleFoldsDefaults`), the new
tool definition + handler, and the updated supervise.prepare
shape.

The supervise sidecar mounted a snapshot named routes.json into
the agent at /etc/claude-bottle/current-config/routes.json, but
the egress-proxy-block tool description (and the live proxy file
the apply step writes) say routes.yaml. The agent couldn't find
the file at the documented path, composed proposals against stale
or empty current state, and reported "routes wasn't updated on
disk" because it was looking at the wrong filename.
Rename the staged file to routes.yaml so the tool description,
the staged snapshot, and the live proxy file all agree on the
name. Content stays JSON-in-a-yaml-extension (per PRD 0017
chunk 1's decision: every JSON document is valid YAML, stdlib
parsers handle it on both ends).
Note: the staged file is still a one-shot snapshot taken at
bottle prep time. It does NOT auto-update when the operator
approves an egress-proxy-block. Agents that want to verify
their proposal took effect should retry the request that
triggered the block — a successful upstream response is the
real signal. Fixing the snapshot-staleness UX is a separate
follow-up.
Tests migrated from routes.json → routes.yaml. 364 pass.

Finishes PRD 0017. The `cred-proxy-block` MCP tool is renamed and
its remediation apply path is repointed at egress-proxy.
- `claude_bottle/supervise.py` — `TOOL_CRED_PROXY_BLOCK` →
`TOOL_EGRESS_PROXY_BLOCK`; `COMPONENT_FOR_TOOL` maps the new
tool ID to `egress-proxy` for audit-log routing.
- `claude_bottle/supervise_server.py` — tool definition renamed
+ description rewritten: "Call when egress-proxy refused your
HTTPS request ... Read the current routes.yaml from /etc/
claude-bottle/current-config/routes.yaml, compose a modified
version, pass the full new file plus a justification." The
syntactic validator dispatches on the new tool ID.
- `claude_bottle/backend/docker/egress_proxy_apply.py` — renamed
from `cred_proxy_apply.py`. Reads routes.yaml from
/etc/egress-proxy/routes.yaml via `docker exec cat`; validates
via `egress_proxy_addon_core.load_routes` (so both sides use
the same parser); writes via `docker cp`; SIGHUPs egress-proxy
with `docker kill --signal HUP`. `EgressProxyApplyError`
replaces `CredProxyApplyError`.
- `claude_bottle/cli/dashboard.py` — wires the new apply +
`discover_egress_proxy_slugs` helper; the operator-initiated
`routes edit <bottle>` verb now writes to egress-proxy with
`.yaml` suffix. Stale follow-up comment about path-aware
filtering removed — PRD 0017 settled that question.
- `tests/integration/test_supervise_sidecar.py` — restores the
approval round-trip test (chunk 2 had switched it to a reject
path because no cred-proxy existed). Approval stubs
`apply_routes_change` so the test focuses on the supervise
queue/response plumbing rather than docker-exec into a real
egress-proxy sidecar (that's covered separately).
- `tests/unit/test_egress_proxy_apply.py` — rewritten against
the new validator; covers JSON shape, missing routes key,
partial-auth-pair rejection (the addon-core parser catches
these before SIGHUP).
- PRDs 0010 + 0014 — status headers updated to
Superseded / Retargeted with a callout block pointing at PRD
0017's migration section. Historical text preserved.
384 unit + integration tests pass.

Phase 3 of PRD 0013. Wires the supervise sidecar into bottle launch:
- Manifest: bottle.supervise (bool, default False). Opt-in for v1 so
existing bottles are unchanged.
- supervise.py: adds SupervisePlan + abstract Supervise(ABC) with a
prepare template that stages the per-bottle queue dir on the host
and the current-config dir under stage_dir (routes.json + allowlist
+ Dockerfile). Stdlib-only so it still runs as the in-container
shared helper.
- backend/docker/supervise.py: DockerSupervise concrete start/stop.
No egress network (the sidecar doesn't make outbound calls); just
the bottle's internal network with network-alias "supervise" and a
bind-mount of the host queue dir at /run/supervise/queue.
- Prepare wires supervise.prepare into the DockerBottlePlan, derives
routes_content from cred_proxy_plan, allowlist_content from
pipelock_effective_allowlist, and dockerfile_content from the
repo's Dockerfile. supervise sidecar added to the orphan probe.
- Launch starts the supervise sidecar after pipelock + cred-proxy
but before the agent (so DNS resolution for `supervise` is up on
the agent's first tool call).
- Agent container gets a read-only bind-mount of the current-config
dir at /etc/claude-bottle/current-config when supervise is enabled.
- bottle_plan print + to_dict surface the supervise state.
