didericis 09393b354b refactor(de-sidecar): purge the "sidecar" name from live code, tests, and current docs
lint / lint (push) Failing after 2m3s
test / unit (pull_request) Successful in 1m11s
test / integration (pull_request) Successful in 26s
test / coverage (pull_request) Successful in 1m22s
Completes the de-sidecar cleanup: no live code, test, current doc,
script, or nix file mentions or is named "sidecar" any more. Only the
dated PRD/research docs keep the term as historical record (agreed on
the #385 thread).

- Rename `sidecar_init.py`→`gateway_init.py` was done earlier; this pass
sweeps the remaining descriptive uses: the egress / git-gate / supervise
components are the gateway's *daemons*, the shared container is the
*gateway*, the old per-bottle container was the *companion container*.
- Rename `tests/integration/test_sidecar_bundle_image.py`→`test_gateway_image.py`
and its class; update `docs/ci.md` + `tests/README.md` for the renamed/
  removed integration tests.
- `SIDECAR_PORTS` shell var in `scripts/firecracker-netpool.sh`→`GATEWAY_PORTS`.

Full unit suite green (bar the pre-existing `/bin/sleep`-missing env
errors in test_gateway_init); docker integration — gateway singleton,
broker, real two-bottle multitenant isolation, and the gateway-image
build — all pass.

didericis 96b84eb84d refactor(orchestrator): split conflated sidecar image into orchestrator + gateway images
lint / lint (push) Successful in 2m19s
test / unit (pull_request) Successful in 1m14s
test / integration (pull_request) Successful in 32s
test / coverage (pull_request) Successful in 1m28s
One image — `bot-bottle-sidecars:latest`, built from `Dockerfile.sidecars` —
served two unrelated roles: the egress/git-gate/supervise *data plane* and
the orchestrator *control plane* (which ran the same image with the entrypoint
overridden to `python3 -m bot_bottle.orchestrator`). The control plane is
stdlib-only, so it needed none of the mitmproxy/git/gitleaks payload it was
riding on — while being the most secret-dense process on the host (PRD 0070's
"secret concentration").

Split into two purpose-built images:

- `Dockerfile.gateway` -> `bot-bottle-gateway:latest` — the data plane
  (renamed from Dockerfile.sidecars; identical contents).
- `Dockerfile.orchestrator` -> `bot-bottle-orchestrator:latest` — a lean
  `python:3.12-slim` runtime; the bind-mounted `bot_bottle` package supplies
the code (so the #381 source-hash recreate semantics are unchanged).

`OrchestratorService` now takes distinct `image` (control plane, default
`ORCHESTRATOR_IMAGE`) and `gateway_image` (data plane, default `GATEWAY_IMAGE`)
instead of feeding one `self.image` to both, and builds the lean image
(build-if-missing) before starting the container. The per-bottle bundle
constants in `backend/docker/sidecar_bundle.py` now alias the gateway
constants so a bundle and the shared gateway can never drift onto different
images. The `bot-bottle-sidecars` *image* name and `Dockerfile.sidecars` are
gone; the per-bottle *container* name prefix (`bot-bottle-sidecars-<slug>`) is
intentionally left for a separate change.

Verified end-to-end: both images build; the lean image runs the control plane;
`ensure_running` brings up the orchestrator on `bot-bottle-orchestrator:latest`
and the gateway on `bot-bottle-gateway:latest` (distinct images) and reports
healthy.

Closes #384.

didericis-claude 63a3b9b50a docs: remove pipelock references from README, examples, and test docs
lint / lint (push) Successful in 1m27s
test / unit (push) Successful in 33s
test / integration (push) Successful in 46s
Update Quality Badges / update-badges (push) Successful in 1m8s
Pipelock was removed in PR #193. Update the five remaining places
where current documentation (README, examples/bottles/claude.md,
tests/README.md, docs/ci.md, sidecar_bundle.py comment) still
described the old pipelock + cred-proxy topology.

didericis 0848344438 fix(sidecars): apply_routes_change targets the bundle + SIGHUP forwarding
test / unit (pull_request) Successful in 20s
test / integration (pull_request) Successful in 42s
Two bugs surfaced when applying an egress route change:

1. egress_apply.py still targeted claude-bottle-egress-<slug> —
the legacy per-sidecar container that no longer exists (it's
a docker-network alias on the bundle now). Switched it to
   sidecar_bundle_container_name(slug), matching the chunk-5
   fix already made to pipelock_apply.py.

2. `docker kill --signal HUP <bundle>` lands SIGHUP on the
supervisor (PID 1 in the bundle), which previously had no
SIGHUP handler — the signal was ignored. Added
   `_Supervisor.forward_signal(sig, daemon_name)` and a SIGHUP
handler in main() that forwards to the egress daemon so
mitmdump's addon reload still works under the bundle.

Tests:
- New _Supervisor.forward_signal cases: forwards to the named
child (Python subprocess as the SIGHUP target — bash trap +
stdout=PIPE deferral interferes with the production-style
  test); unknown-daemon name is a no-op.

Stale-reference cleanup (separate issue surfaced while looking
at this):
- claude_bottle/{egress,git_gate,egress_addon,
  egress_addon_core,supervise_server}.py: Dockerfile.egress /
  Dockerfile.git-gate / Dockerfile.supervise references updated
to Dockerfile.sidecars (the old per-sidecar Dockerfiles were
deleted in PRD 0024 chunk 5).
- tests/README.md: dropped the entry for
test_pipelock_sidecar_smoke (deleted in chunk 3) and added
  the new bundle integration tests.
- git_gate.py: stale `DockerGitGate.start via docker cp`
reference (the method was deleted in chunk 3) rewritten to
the bind-mount path the renderer uses now.

didericis 4462863d56 test: reorganize suite into unit/integration/canaries directories
Replace the hand-maintained INTEGRATION_NAMES classifier (and the
bespoke run_tests.py around it) with a directory-driven split:

  tests/unit/ unit tests, always run
tests/integration/ Docker-dependent, skip cleanly without Docker
  tests/canaries/ upstream-regression checks, opt-in via
                      CLAUDE_BOTTLE_RUN_CANARIES=1

The pinned-pipelock-image check moves to the canary suite — it tests
upstream packaging, not our code, so it shouldn't gate every dev push.
A scheduled canaries.yml workflow runs it weekly.

The manifest-runtime tests collapse the four assertRaises cases for
distinct 'runtime' values into one subTest loop and drop the
error-message-wording assertions; the contract is "any value is
rejected", not "the error literally contains 'auto-detect'".

didericis 399ed93dc8 refactor: convert project from bash to Python
Replaces cli.sh + lib/*.sh with a claude_bottle/ Python package and a
cli.py entry point. No external dependencies — uses only Python's
stdlib (json, subprocess, getpass, tempfile, argparse, re, etc.).

- claude_bottle/{log,docker,manifest,env_resolve,network,pipelock,
skills,ssh,cli}.py mirror the previous lib/*.sh modules.
- Tests converted to unittest under tests/test_*.py with a stdlib
runner at tests/run_tests.py (unit | integration | path).
- .githooks/commit-msg ported to Python; same Conventional Commits rules.
